According to Apple, new device has 7.9 inch display compared to 9.7 inch display of iPad. The display resolution is 1,024 × 768 pixels.

The tablet computer iPad mini is just 7.2 mm thick and weighs about 308 grams without mobile module. For comparison, iPad of third generation weighs about 652 grams and is 9.4 mm thick.

iPad mini has dual-core Apple A5 processor. The device has five megapixel camera and frontal HD-videocamera.

The tablet computer is equipped with Apple’s Lightning connector, first seen on the iPhone 5 and new iPod. The connector is used for charging and connection to computer.

Apple Vice President of marketing Phil Schiller claimed that has a 10-hour battery life. Some modifications of the device will be able to connect to LTE networs.

iPad mini tablet computer will be produced with mobile network support and without it. The device with Wi-Fi support will cost from US$329, and those with both Wi-Fi and mobile networks – from US$459.

Apple said that pre-orders to iPad mini can be placed from 26 October 2012. The device with Wi-Fi support can be purchased from official Apple shops from 2 November and iPad mini with Wi-Fi and mobile network support – from mid-November.

Within the presentation, Apple also presented its new MacBook Pro with Retina display and several new Mac desktop computers.
