Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Appellate Court upheld the decision of the first instance court in the case of Saidaziz Saidaliyev, also known as "Saidaziz Medgorodok," and 22 other defendants.
According to the verdict of the Yunusabad District Court, Saidaziz Saidaliyev and 22 others were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 5 to 20 years, with Saidaziz Medgorodok receiving a 20-year sentence.
Dissatisfied with the verdict, Saidaziz Saidaliyev and 13 other defendants filed appeals against the decision made on 5 August 2024. On 27 November, the Appellate Court of the Tashkent City Court reviewed the case and rejected the appeals, leaving the original verdict unchanged.
The court found Saidaziz Saidaliyev guilty of extortion, fraud, organizing a criminal community, money laundering, and hooliganism, sentencing him to 20 years in prison.
Other defendants received various sentences. Two were sentenced to corrective labor, three to restriction of freedom, and one was released from punishment due to the statute of limitations.
Additionally, 16 of the convicted are required to compensate the material damages to the victims. The property acquired by Saidaziz Saidaliyev through the legalization of illicit income will be used to cover the damages.
