Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Antimonopoly Committee received appeals from the head offices of the insurance companies UNIVERSAL SUG’URTA and ALFA INVEST with information on the obstruction of the activities of their branches in Surkhandarya region.

As it became known, at a video conference call held at the khokimiyat of Surkhandarya region on February 7, 2019, it was stated that only those insurance companies registered in Surkhandarya region will be engaged in insurance activities in the region.

In accordance with Article 12 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Competition”, state bodies and local government bodies are prohibited from imposing restrictions on the conduct of activities of economic entities or hindering the production of certain goods, as well as imposing a ban on their activities.

On this issue, relevant instructions were given to the territorial bodies of state administration.

According to the results of the study of materials in relation to the Surkhandarya khokimiyat, a case was opened on violation of competition law, which was later submitted to the Special Commission of the Committee.

A special commission of the Antimonopoly Committee issued an order to the khokimiyat of Surkhandarya region to cancel the instructions specified in the meeting protocol, as well as to eliminate illegal actions.

As of 8 May 2019 the khokimiyat of Surkhandarya region, having agreed with the Committee, canceled the previously given instructions indicated in the minutes of the meeting, officially informed the Antimonopoly Committee.
