Animal husbandry accounts 46.7% of agriculture output in Jan-Jun
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The share of animal husbandry was 46.7% in the total volume of agricultural output of Uzbekistan in January-June 2009.

As of 1 July 2009 the population of cattle increased by 493,200 heads (by 6.5%), including cows - by 191,600 heads (6%), sheep and goats - by 772,200 heads (5.7%), poultry - by 2.928 million heads (11%).

In January-June 2009, farms of all types produced 638,000 tonnes of meat in living weight (6.7% more than in the corresponding period of the previous year), 2.627 million tonnes of milk (6.6%), 1.24 billion eggs (15.3%), 13,100 tonnes of wool (6.8%), 793,500 pieces of karakul (1.1%), and 24,000 tonnes of silkworm cocoons (2.2%).

The production of animal products (meat, milk, eggs) in all regions has mainly increased at the expense of dekhkan and private farms. Their share in total production of meat was 97.5%, milk - 99.5%, and eggs - 63.4%.

Agriculture output of Uzbekistan grew by 4.6% year-on-year in January-June 2009 to 4.985 trillion soums.

The committee said output of plant-growing was 2.657 trillion soums or increased by 3.1% year-on-year in the reporting period.
