Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The powers of Angela Merkel as Federal Chancellor of Germany have officially ended, the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, thanked her and the government for their work and presented her with documents on the end of her powers.

“This is the chancellorship, which can be classified as one of the most significant in the history of this republic,” Steinmeier said on Tuesday in the Bundestag, handing over the documents. On 26 October, the first organizational meeting of the new German parliament took place.

From now on, Merkel and the rest of the German government will work as acting duties until a new government is formed in Germany.

Parliamentary elections in Germany were held on 26 September, the Social Democratic Party of Germany, led by Olaf Scholz, won, the Merkel party union CDU / CSU was in second place. The negotiations on the formation of the government are now being conducted by the Social Democrats, the Greens and the Free Democratic Party of Germany.
