Andijan region’s GRP grows by 11% in January-June 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of gross regional product (GRP) of Andijan region of Uzbekistan grew by 11% in January-June 2011, UzA reported.

In the reporting period, the growth of industrial output reached 8.2% and agriculture production – 8%.

Production of consumer goods increased by 3.1% and the volume of paid service grew by 8.6%, and retail trade turnover – 13.8%.

The region’s economy attracted uS$13.9 million of foreign investments, of which US$10.2 million were foreign direct investments. In the result, some 225 new production capacities were launched in the region.

Within programme on creation of new jobs and employment, some 43,900 new jobs were created in the region and forecast was fulfilled with 11% surplus. Development of small and private businesses helped to create 31,542 new jobs.

Within development of this sector, the commercial banks issued loans for 130 billion soums. Share of small and private businesses in GRP made up 45.9%.

In the reporting period, some 338,800 square meters of habitations were commissioned. About 380 houses with the capacity of 53,700 square meters were constructed in rural areas.
