Anadolu Isuzu eyes majority stake in Uzbekistan’s SamAuto
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Turkish automotive manufacturer Anadolu Isuzu Otomotiv Sanayii ve Ticaret A.Ş. has expressed interest in acquiring a controlling stake in the Uzbek vehicle producer SamAuto. The announcement was made on 3 April through a platform dedicated to corporate information disclosure.
The company has submitted an official offer to Uzbekistan’s Agency for State Asset Management to purchase the government’s 75.2% stake in SamAuto’s charter capital.
According to the Unified State Register of Enterprises and Organizations, the remaining 24.8% of SamAuto’s shares are equally divided between Japan’s Itochu Corporation and Isuzu Motors Ltd, each holding 12.4%.
It is worth recalling that on 5 June 2024, Anadolu Isuzu and the Agency for State Asset Management signed a memorandum of understanding. Under the agreement, the parties committed to conducting a comprehensive analysis of the potential deal, including due diligence and the evaluation of acquisition opportunities for the majority stake.
