An Uzbek-French business forum takes place in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
A delegation of business circles of department of Southern Pyrenees of France led by the President of the Agency on Economic and Cultural Development Gilbert Salinas visited Uzbekistan and the Uzbek-French Business Forum and Cooperation Exchange was held within the visit on 30 March.
During the business forum, participants got acquainted with perspectives of bilateral cooperation in various sectors of economy, investment potential of Uzbekistan and opportunities of investment cooperation, including within the Navoi free industrial and economic zone.
In two sectional sessions, the sides considered cooperation in energy, oil-chemical and oil-gas industries, geology, machinery, as well as information technologies, air transportation, banking and other sectors.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and France made up US$189.6 million in 2009. The most favourable trade regime established between the countries.
Currently, 15 joint ventures with French capital and one enterprise with 100% French capital operate in Uzbekistan. Fifteen French companies and Societe Generale have accredited representative offices in Uzbekistan.
