Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Law enforcement officers of Kashkadarya region arrested an investigator of the Karshi prosecutor’s office while accepting a bribe, the press service of the State Security Service said.

In March 2021, a resident of Mirishkor district registered an enterprise in the name of one of his relatives to engage in livestock farming and received a preferential loan for this in the amount of 450 million soums. However, it turned out that the money was spent for other purposes.

In this regard, a criminal case was initiated under Article 167 of the Criminal Code (Theft through misappropriation or embezzlement) and transferred to the Karshi prosecutor’s office. On 26 March, the accused was taken into custody. At this time, the investigator demanded US$5,000 from the head of the enterprise to cancel the arrest.

The investigator was arrested while receiving a bribe in his office. A criminal case was opened against him under Part 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (Receiving a bribe with extortion), after which he was taken into custody.
