Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 17 March 2021, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with the Capital Market Development Agency held an international conference on the topic "The role of the financial market in ensuring sustainable economic development: legal and institutional barriers."

It was attended by members of parliament, representatives of the Presidential Administration, Government, ministries and departments, international financial institutions, leading domestic companies, investment intermediaries, UNDP, USAID, regulators of foreign financial markets, the US and British embassies and other diplomatic missions.

At the event, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis T. Narbaeva made a video message.

The participants discussed the current situation, the experience of foreign countries and possible options for the further development of the domestic financial market.

It was noted about the need to improve the country's financial market, taking into account the best international experience, using all available opportunities for further consolidation of efforts for maximum liberalization of the financial industry legislation and active attraction of portfolio and institutional investors.

Based on the results of the discussions, relevant recommendations were developed for the chambers of the Oliy Majlis, including constant monitoring and control over the implementation of legislative acts related to the functioning and development of the capital market, the processes of transforming strategic enterprises into joint-stock companies, including the transformation of commercial banks and other areas.
