Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Agency for Strategic Reforms proposed to create an industrial technopark in Almalyk (Tashkent region), which could attract investments of US$1 billion.
The Agency for Strategic Reforms (ASR) has developed an economic development plan for the city of Almalyk.
According to the agency’s proposal, a new industrial technopark is planned to be built in the "Hilol" mahalla on a 227.4-hectare site.
The technopark is expected to host 35 facilities engaged in the production of building materials, household appliances, and other goods.
ASR estimates that the implementation of this project will attract more than US$1 billion in investments and create 8,000 jobs. The expected annual export volume of the technopark’s products will be about US$350 million, which will add up to 60 billion soums in additional revenue to the local budget.
Additionally, ASR proposes to establish an international logistics center in the "Hilol" mahalla. This project, according to agency specialists, will simplify the delivery of local products to both domestic and international markets and bring an additional 15 billion soums to the budget.
In the "Buston" mahalla, the agency proposes to organize a small industrial zone on a 33.8-hectare site. Investments in this project could amount to about US$250 million, which will also provide an additional 15 billion soums to the budget.
