Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting with IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde was held at the Central Bank today, during which issues of macroeconomic policy and reforms in the banking sector were discussed.

Ms. Lagarde drew attention to the need to reduce the pace of lending and risk monitoring in the implementation of reforms of state enterprises and banks.

The importance of understanding by the Central Bank of all risks of reform in the financial sector was noted.

She stressed that the IMF is ready to provide further support to the current and planned reforms with all the available Fund potential.

After the meeting, Lagarde gave a lecture to students and staff of the Central Bank on the topic: “Reforms of Uzbekistan: A New Formula for Inclusive Growth and Cooperation”, which noted Uzbekistan’s high potential for achieving high economic growth and regional cooperation.
