Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An employee of the Customs Committee suspected of theft of 145 billion soums was detained in Uzbekistan.

Ilkhom Mukhtorov, First Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee, announced the detention of an employee who maintained criminal connections with an insurance company in the country.

After analyzing his activities, it was established that he was involvement in the theft of funds.

The employee was fired on 23 November after an internal review and was subsequently arrested.

Currently, 84 billion soums out of 145 billion soums of damage have already been compensated.

Two employees of the insurance company fled abroad and are wanted.
