An agreement on the establishment of the International Organization for the Russian Language was approved in Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon approved an agreement on the establishment of the International Russian Language Organization, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reported.

The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon on 7 May. The text of the document is posted in the legal information bank of Tajikistan.

Emomali Rahmon instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan to take measures to implement the agreement, as well as notify the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States that the republic has completed all internal state procedures for the entry into force of the document.

The agreement establishing the organization was signed in Bishkek in October 2023. The initiative to establish it in 2022 was made by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Then Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed placing the organization’s headquarters in Sochi.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference in January that the organization is open to the participation of any state in the world, since the Russian language is popular on all continents.

In Tajikistan, the Russian language is enshrined in the constitution and has the status of a language of interethnic communication. All official documents are duplicated in Russian, newspapers are published, programs are broadcast on television and radio, and it is studied in schools and universities.

There are 59 schools in Tajikistan where the educational process is conducted entirely in Russian.

In another 185 educational institutions, teaching is conducted in Russian and Tajik.

In higher educational institutions of Tajikistan, all students are required to study the Russian language for two semesters. Also, 10 universities are training specialists in Russian philology.

Let us remind you that the Russian Federation invested 150 million in the construction of 5 schools in Tajikistan. They have been operating in Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar, Kulyab and Tursunzade since September 1, 2022. Each educational institution is designed for 1.2 thousand children.
