Ambassadors present credentials to President of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Oqsaroy on 11 September received credentials from the newly appointed Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary – Emilbek Uzakbaev of the Kyrgyz Republic, Shiri Shiriev of Turkmenistan, Romeo Stancu of Romania, George Edgar of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Greeting the heads of diplomatic missions, President Islam Karimov said that Uzbekistan attaches an essential significance to the dynamic development of relations with the countries they represent, and wished them every success in their responsible and honorable missions.

During the conversation with the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan that followed the ceremony, it was suggested that the interstate relations can and ought to be built and advanced on the foundation of long-lasting experience of living together, friendship, the historical and cultural community of our two peoples.

The Kyrgyz envoy stated that he considers his chief task to facilitate the constructive development of Uzbek-Kyrgyz bonds based on mutual respect.

The destinies of Uzbek and Turkmen peoples are inextricably intertwined with common history and culture. Turkmenistan is seen in Uzbekistan as a close neighbor and reliable partner, interaction with which has been consolidating practically in all dimensions of cooperation.

The regular highest-level political dialogue constitutes the source for steadfast progress of interstate relations.

Mutual trade has been growing along with the expansion of cooperation in transport and transit issues, while the cultural and humanitarian exchange between our two peoples has been flourishing.

In his turn, Ambassador Shiri Shiriev affirmed that he will make every effort and apply his diplomatic experience to further enhance the ties between the two countries and put into practice the interstate deals and agreements reached.

Romania is regarded in Uzbekistan as one of the important and longer-term partners in South-East Europe.

President Islam Karimov’s 1996 visit to Romania served to lay a vigorous foundation for bilateral relations and determine the prospective directions of interaction for the years to come.

The participants of the meeting at the Oqsaroy emphasized the shared interest to afford the Uzbek-Romanian ties a new dynamic across the entire spectrum of cooperation, to boost the activities of bilateral institutions and mechanisms of interaction, shore up state support for contacts and joint schemes by business circles of Uzbekistan and Romania.

Ambassador Romeo Stancu noted that he considers his mission in Uzbekistan as an opportunity for further enhancement of traditional bonds between our two nations. According to him, the necessary prerequisites for achieving that goal are in abundance today.

Currently, the Uzbek-British dialogue dedicated to the steady enlargement of cooperation in all areas is built on the mutual understanding, constructive approach, and authentic awareness of the contemporary threats and challenges we face.

During the discussion with Britain’s Ambassador it was said that joint efforts have facilitated the creation of essential conditions for the bilateral relations to prosper in the political and security realms, in trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian areas, and those between civil societies of the two countries.

The conversation has provided for a thorough exchange of views on the regional and international issues of shared interest. George Edgar underscored the UK leadership’s disposition to build relations with Uzbekistan on longer-run and mutually advantageous basis, and expressed willingness to endeavor to further that goal.
