Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 7 January 2020 Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov spoke at the Brussels Press Club on the topic of our country’s interaction with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Foreign Ministry said.
It was noted that Uzbekistan pursues an open, mutually beneficial and constructive foreign policy based on national interests. One of the priority areas is the development of cooperation with neighboring countries and integration into the world community. In the context of the new economic policy, Uzbekistan does not intend to limit itself in cooperation with any foreign states or international and regional organizations, as well as integration associations.
In particular, at present, Uzbekistan has begun to study issues of cooperation with the EAEU, uniting Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, which are of interest to Uzbekistan as a large market and an important transit corridor. No less significant is the strengthening of cooperation with EAEU member countries in the field of labor migration.
The ambassador emphasized that the issues of interaction with the EAEU are exclusively economic cooperation, and this process does not mean a rejection of obligations within other associations. Uzbekistan is committed to maintaining and building up its close partnership, economic and trade relations with other countries, including non-members of the EAEU, as well as international economic and financial organizations.
