Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Nodirjon Turgunov presented his credentials to the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha.
Nodirjon Turgunov will serve as Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OIC, emphasizing the importance of further deepening collaboration across various fields.
Nodirjon Turgunov has headed Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia since March 2024. Prior to that, he served as Uzbekistan’s Consul General in Jeddah from 2021 to 2024.
It should be noted that Uzbekistan became an observer in the OIC in October 1995 and gained full membership in the organization on 2 October 1996.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is one of the largest intergovernmental structures in the Islamic world, fostering the implementation of regional and global initiatives and promoting political, economic, transport, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation among its member states.
