Always exclusive: how the profession of a guide will be reborn after a pandemic

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The pandemic has left an indelible imprint on modern reality, but life goes on and we are adapting to a new time. Businesses and professions are adapting, transforming familiar processes in order to organically become part of the new reality at a new level.

One of the most affected spheres of activity was tourism. But, you see, you don’t even want to imagine your future life without tourism? I don’t want to imagine life without airports, hotels, travel, walks through the narrow streets of old cities, without tasting national dishes. And no guides.

The guide plays a huge role in the implementation and implementation of all those ideas and plans of the tourist business, the development of which the government of the country is constantly thinking about. It should be noted that a guide is a leader of a tourist group, an organizer of communication, a psychologist and teacher, an archaeologist and historian, a culturologist and a museum worker, an ethnographer who unfolds the diversity of cultural space to a person’s individuality, and there are times when a guide becomes a medical worker.

But today he was out of work - temporarily! We are absolutely sure of this, and now we will tell you why.

Of course, the profession will continue to exist, because in the 21st century, professions of the "man-to-man" type are more in demand than ever. Truly, a deep immersion in the subject of the tour cannot be conveyed otherwise than through lively emotions, vivid illustrations and almost acting skills of the guide. Have you met such? After such excursions, tourists retell what they have heard to all their friends after returning home.

The world is adapting, borders are slowly opening and sanitary standards are being established. This means that very soon the tourist flow will resume. Who will take on the burden of a guide in the new environment? Of course, the guide. For its part, the Institute for Tourism Development under the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development is actively working on the preparation of webinars, where guides get acquainted with the experience of colleagues in changing conditions and new requirements. International experts share tips and advice for a comfortable and easy adaptation of professionals to modern conditions.

And in parallel, the sphere of virtual tourism is developing, and here again it does not do without guides. On the Internet, you can find many applications that offer virtual tours. The peculiarity of each specific tour, its program and the information that the tourist hears or reads - all this is determined by the guide who knows the route like no one else and can create a unique product.

All this information lies on the surface and, it seems, the sphere will not undergo significant changes. Some precautions will be added - this is always for the best - and the tourist, as before, will follow the ornate route after his guide, revealing the incredible facets and details of the city, which he may have even seen more than once.

“It is difficult to surprise us with anything, but what we saw and heard from a local guide in your country in Uzbekistan delighted us,” Italian tourists once wrote in their reviews. And this is exactly what the whole tourism industry exists for - sincere emotions, interest and delight of the guest.
