Almost US$35 million to be allocated to repair the Karshi cascade of pumping stations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Almost US$35 million saved as a result of the tender was additionally allocated for the overhaul of the Karshi cascade of pumping stations. This is stated in the presidential resolution from 30 November.

The total cost of the project to modernize these stations is US$70.7 million.

Thanks to the tender, it was possible to save US$34.6 million, including US$19.82 million in borrowed funds from the Saudi Development Fund and US$14.78 million in loans from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development.

The funds saved will be used to modernize 9 pumping units, as well as purchase 7 types of special equipment and 4 dredgers.

The President instructed the Ministry of Water Resources to submit to the government draft amendments to the feasibility study of the project by April 1, 2024.

In addition, government agencies were instructed to begin construction of concreting a 26 km section of the MK-2, Zafarobod and Kungirtog canals connected to the pumping stations of the Kamashi and Kasansky districts in 2025.
