Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — All pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah or Hajj are now required to be vaccinated against meningitis.
This requirement applies to all travelers arriving in the country from 1 February 2025, regardless of the visa category.
According to information from the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia, the vaccination can be administered with one of three vaccines: the four-component vaccine against Neisseria meningitidis, the polysaccharide vaccine, or the conjugate vaccine. Travelers must provide a valid vaccination certificate, with the validity period depending on the type of vaccine: no more than 10 days for the four-component vaccine, up to 3 years for the polysaccharide vaccine, and up to 5 years for the conjugate vaccine.
Children under the age of one are not required to receive the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia strongly recommends planning the vaccination at least 10 days before travel.
