Alisher Kadyrov: All outdoor signages in Uzbekistan should be in Uzbek language

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Alisher Kadyrov, leader of the "Milliy Tiklanish" party, has proposed that all outdoor signages in Uzbekistan be presented in the state language. He shared this initiative on his Telegram channel.

According to Kadyrov, in the cities of Uzbekistan, including the capital, Tashkent, outdoor signages, announcements, and directions are often displayed in other languages and using different alphabets. The politician emphasized that this is a significant issue.

He expressed the belief that signposts, announcements, and outdoor inscriptions should be made in Uzbek, while allowing for duplication in other languages if necessary.

Kadyrov also mentioned that the "Milliy Tiklanish" party has begun working on a draft law on "Outdoor Inscriptions," aiming to regulate this issue.

"Our attitude towards the Uzbek language, as an essential national value, needs to change radically. First and foremost, entrepreneurs, business owners, and government agencies must demonstrate respect for the Uzbek language and set an example in adhering to the law. Society must show principledness on this matter," he stated.

The politician noted that despite the state of war, the Russian State Duma has already passed three major laws related to the Russian language within the past month, all of which are mandatory.

"I believe we can and should draw inspiration from this," he concluded.
