Alcatel-Lucent’s solution, which will be installed by the end of summer 2009, will provide ATG with new and enhanced functionalities for video conferencing, surveillance (CCTV) andperimeter alarm. It will also enable Uzbekistan to modernize its national gas pipeline infrastructure. The contract was signed through Alcatel-Lucent’s Chinese flagship company, Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell.

As part of the project, Alcatel-Lucent will supply ATG with a turnkey, integrated communications solution, including radio and optical transmission, satellite-based TV system and phone devices, voice switching systems and local area networks (LAN).Alcatel-Lucent will also provide comprehensive professional services including design, integration and testing, engineering, and installation.

In accordance with the “Agreement on Principle of Construction and Operation of Uzbekistan-China Gas Pipeline” signed on 30 April 2007 between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the “Agreement on Principles of Construction and Operation of Uzbekistan-China Gas Pipeline” signed on 31 July 2007 between the National Holding Company “UZBEKNEFTEGAZ” and the Chinese National Petroleum Company, National Holding Company “UZBEKNEFTEGAZ” and Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited (a subsidiary of CNPC) together formed a joint venture company-Joint Venture “Asia Trans Gas” Limited Liability Company on 30 January 2008, taking in charge of the construction and administration of the Pipeline to be built immediately.
