Aircraft maintenance center commissioned at TAPOiCh
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Center on maintenance of foreign aircrafts was commissioned on the base of Tashkent Aircraft Construction plant named after Chkalov (TAPOiCh).

This is the first phase of the project and its cost is US$13 million. Within the first phase, the production area of the plant was reconstructed and part of equipment was installed.

Uzbekiston Airways technics, aircraft maintenance and repair plant of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari (Uzbekistan Airways) will manage the center. Soon, the center will accept first aircrafts for basic repair works.

New center will carry out 24 forms of airplane maintenance of the western production in form of C-Check.

The first stage of the project is financed due to loans of local banks at the sum of 19 billion soums.

In the next phases in 2010-2012, it is planned to increase technical capacity of the center due to purchase of new equipment.

The Government of Uzbekistan adopted decision on organization of the Center on maintenance of the western-made airplanes at the base of the TAPOiCh with the cost of US$39 million.

In line with the decision, some unused production areas of TAPOiCh were handed over to Uzbekistan Havo Yollari to create the center.

The project is financed due to loans of the commercial banks for US$18 million, foreign loans – US$18.2 million and own resources of the Uzbek airline – US$2.8 million.

Uzbekistan Airways technics is the largest airplane repairing plant in Central Asia, which was commissioned in 1994. Three years later, the center on technical maintenance of western-made aircrafts was created at the plant, which is the only similar center in the region.
