Economy 24/09/2007 airBaltic to open 2 new destinations to Finland and Uzbekistan
On 28 October 2007, the Latvian airline airBaltic will start operating its winter timetable, effective until 29 March 2008, offering two new destinations and increased flight frequencies on nine routes.

In winter airBaltic will operate 37 flights out of Riga, 18 flights out of Vilnius, and 3 out of Liepaja, Boarding.no reported.

"As for new destinations, airBaltic is concentrating on markets where the potential of business and tourism travel is high. We have had 2 years of successful cooperation with Uzbekistan Airways, and now we extend this by starting our own operations and offering three flights a week on Riga-Tashkent route jointly with our partner," says Bertolt Flick, President and CEO of airBaltic.

"Oulu is the second destination that airBaltic opens in Finland and we expect a considerable flow of Finnish travellers to Riga, similar to what we experienced with Norwegians. We have also increased flight frequencies on routes that have experienced high demand of airBaltic’s passengers."

airBaltic will open two new destinations to Oulu, Finland, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from its base in Riga. Flights to Oulu will be operated three times a week, while those to Tashkent – twice a week. The one-way fares start at LVL 13.60 and LVL 99 respectively, including airport taxes.

Furthermore, the airline has increased frequencies of flights to Munich (8 times a week), Gomel (5 times a week), Gothenburg (6 times a week), Istanbul (4 times a week), Oslo (13 times a week), Berlin (13 times a week), Vienna (5 times a week), Vilnius (16 times a week), Zurich (4 times a week).

For sun lovers airBaltic will offer the Egyptian resort of Hurghada with flights operated three times a week throughout the winter season.
