AirAsia X Connects Travelers from Tashkent to 130 Destinations via Kuala Lumpur

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — AirAsia X (AAX), recognized as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for medium-haul travel, has announced its upcoming entry into the Uzbek market with the launch of a new direct flight between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Regular services will commence on 15 October 2025, with three weekly flights. The new route forms part of AAX’s broader strategy to link emerging markets in Central Asia with its extensive network of more than 130 destinations through its transit hub in Kuala Lumpur.

The announcement comes at a pivotal time for Uzbekistan, which has set a target of attracting 15.8 million international visitors in 2025. The new service is expected to boost passenger traffic in both directions, bringing more travelers from Southeast Asia to Uzbekistan while providing Uzbek residents with convenient access to destinations across Asia, Australia, and beyond.

Benjamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, noted: “Our mission has always been to make medium-haul travel more accessible and affordable, and we are delighted to open Tashkent to travelers from across our network. The success of our Almaty route confirmed the strong potential of Central Asia, encouraging us to expand further in the region.

Through Kuala Lumpur, passengers from Tashkent will now be able to reach more than 130 destinations, including major cities in Southeast Asia, China, Australia, and other countries. We are already seeing strong advance bookings from tourists in Malaysia, China, Indonesia, and Singapore, reflecting the significant interest in this route.”

The launch also marks a strengthening of ties between Malaysia and Uzbekistan, which are actively expanding cooperation in trade, education, Islamic tourism, and cultural exchange. The route supports Uzbekistan’s tourism growth goals while also contributing to Malaysia’s national initiative, Visit Malaysia Year 2026, aimed at attracting more travelers from Central Asia.

Dr. Mukhtaramon Bekzod, Chairman of AA Aviation Management Group, stated: “We are confident this route will be highly popular among Uzbek travelers seeking affordable and convenient access to Southeast Asia, Australia, and beyond. With AirAsia X’s Fly-Thru network via Kuala Lumpur, this service will unlock new opportunities for outbound tourism while attracting more visitors from Southeast Asia to Uzbekistan. Such connectivity is set to play a key role in supporting the growth of tourism and the economy, creating new avenues for leisure, business, and cultural exchange.”

To celebrate the launch, AirAsia X is offering promotional fares starting from 2,719,000 soums (US$199) one-way, inclusive of all taxes and fees, plus an additional 20% discount.

Tickets under the promotional offer are available through AA Aviation Management Group — AirAsia X’s official sales agent in Uzbekistan — as well as via the AirAsia MOVE app and at airasia.com. The promotion runs until 3 August 2025, for travel between 15 October and 15 December 2025.
