Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, Air Marakanda officially welcomed the first flight of AZAL (Azerbaijan Airlines) after the resumption of air traffic on the Baku-Samarkand-Baku route.

To mark the occasion, a traditional water arch was set up at the airport’s runway, and full ground services were provided for the aircraft.

During the welcoming ceremony, the crew was officially greeted with the participation of representatives from Air Marakanda and other stakeholders.

Flights on the Baku-Samarkand-Baku route will be operated twice a week — on Wednesdays and Sundays, with departures from Samarkand at 2:55 AM. The flight duration is 2 hours and 20 minutes.

The resumption of regular flights between Baku and Samarkand strengthens business and tourism ties between the two countries and enhances transportation accessibility in the region.
