AIIB opens doors for business: Opportunities for collaboration discussed at seminar

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the Ninth Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), a session titled "Doing Business with AIIB: Seminar on Business Opportunities" was held. The event featured representatives from AIIB, CRBC in Uzbekistan, Global Business Services Ltd, and Nazar Business and Technology LLC.

Key participants included Luky Eco Wuryanto, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of AIIB; Dan Yang, General Manager of the Facilities and Administrative Services Department at AIIB; Evan Zhijiang Shang, Senior Corporate Procurement Specialist at AIIB; Chitambala John Sikavze, Senior Procurement Specialist at AIIB; Wang Chengya, Deputy General Manager of CRBC in Uzbekistan; Murod Sattarov, General Director of Global Business Services Ltd; and Madina Khalmirzaeva, Managing Director of Nazar Business and Technology LLC.

The seminar focused on AIIB’s corporate procurement policy, procurement processes, and opportunities for suppliers and consultants worldwide within projects funded by AIIB. Corporate procurement at AIIB encompasses the acquisition of goods, works, services, and consulting services provided by firms and individual consultants financed from AIIB’s administrative budget and other bank-managed sources. In 2023, the total volume of AIIB’s corporate contracts reached $109 million, involving suppliers and individuals from over 40 countries.

Another topic of discussion included AIIB’s operational procurement, covering practical aspects and experiences of specific contract recipients. By the end of 2023, AIIB had financed over 250 operational projects with a total value of $50 billion, resulting in more than 14,500 contracts worth $21 billion. Each of these contracts not only contributes to infrastructure development but also brings significant socio-economic benefits to beneficiary communities and contract recipients.

Madina Khalmirzaeva, Managing Director of Nazar Business and Technology LLC, highlighted that "50% of the team working on the water supply and sanitation project in the Khorezm region alongside AIIB were women," drawing attention to this important agenda within the discussion.

In conclusion, participants noted that a deeper understanding of AIIB’s procurement policies and their application opens new opportunities for businesses.
