Agreements Signed to Expand Cooperation Between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following the negotiations held in Baku, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Ilham Aliyev, adopted the decisions of the second session of the Supreme Interstate Council.

During the meeting with the participation of the heads of state, a series of bilateral documents were exchanged, including key agreements and cooperation plans.

Among the signed documents are the “Roadmap” for the implementation of the Treaty on Allied Relations for the period 2025–2029, as well as intergovernmental agreements on cooperation in the fields of environmental protection and science, and professional and higher education.

Programs for industrial cooperation for 2025–2026 and a plan to achieve a trade turnover of US$1 billion by 2030 were also approved.

Special attention was given to the development of the agricultural sector and food security within the framework of a practical action plan for 2025–2027, as well as social protection, with a corresponding plan of measures for the same period. Additionally, a protocol on cooperation in shipping and shipbuilding was signed.

To deepen regional ties, agreements were concluded establishing sister-city relationships between Tashkent Region and the city of Sumgait, as well as between the cities of Navoi and Gabala.
