Agreement signed for construction of new modern wastewater treatment Plant in Tashkent region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 August 2024, Laziz Kudratov, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, participated in the signing ceremony of a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) between Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions (SWS) and Uzsuvtaminot JSC for the construction of a new modern wastewater treatment facility in the Kuyichirchik district of the Tashkent region.

Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions (SWS) is the sole company in the UAE specializing in the collection, treatment, and reuse of wastewater. The company handles more than 1,341,000 m³ of water daily through an extensive network of 12,000 km, supported by over 200 pumping stations and 42 treatment facilities. SWS is committed to reducing the burden on natural water resources and promoting sustainable development in the UAE.

The project will be implemented by a consortium that includes SUEZ (France) and Marubeni (Japan), selected as technological partners by Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions (SWS).

According to preliminary project parameters, the facility’s capacity will be 1,000,000 m³ per day at the first stage, with plans to increase capacity to 1.5 million cubic meters.

A 42 km wastewater collection system will be created, allowing for the efficient collection and transportation of wastewater for further treatment.

The project will also implement SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to ensure effective monitoring and management of the treatment and transportation processes.

During the ceremony, it was stated that these measures would enable Tashkent region to provide centralized wastewater services to residents, enterprises, and organizations, which in turn will improve public health and the environmental situation in the region, while saving over 10 million kWh of electricity.
