Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AGMK) will increase the volume of ore processing to 100 million tons. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his address to the Parliament.

The head of state noted that in 2023 the first phase of the development of the Yoshlik copper deposit will be completed.

The 3rd copper processing plant will be put into operation with a processing capacity of 60 million tons of ore. Due to this, the capacity of the Almalyk plant for processing ore will increase from the current 40 million to 100 million tons.

AGMK is implementing an investment project to develop the Yoshlik-1 deposit. The cost of the project is US$5.12 billion. A US$2 billion copper processing plant will be built as part of the project.

At the first stage, this enterprise will process 60 million tons of ore per year.

As a result of the implementation of these two stages, by 2028 the enterprise will have an annual production capacity of 400 thousand tons of copper, 50 tons of gold and 270 tons of silver.
