Aggregate capital of Uzbek banks hits 6.2 trln. soums
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Aggregate capital of commercial banks of Uzbekistan made up 6.2 trillion soums as of 1 January 2013 against 5 trillion soums as of 1 January 2012, an expanded session of the Board of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan dedicated to 2012 results said.

The growth of aggregate capital of the Uzbek banking system made up 24.3%. Currently, level of capital adequacy of the banking system makes up 24%, which three times more compared to requirement of the Basel committee on banking supervision (8%).

Assets of the banks of Uzbekistan grew by 30.2% year-on-year in January-December 2012 and made up 35.7 trillion soums (against 27.5 billion soums as of 1 January 2012).

In the reporting period, the volume of loans, directed to real sector of economy, grew by 30.5% - from 15.7 trillion soums to 20.4 trillion soums.

Some 168 bankrupt enterprises were handed over to balance of commercial banks within the measures on financial rehabilitation of insolvent enterprises and their modernization. Some 120 enterprises were sold to investors. The banks directed 395 billion soums to rehabilitation of these enterprises, which helped to create 25,000 new jobs.

The volume of loans, issued to small and private businesses by commercial, grew 1.3 times year-on-year in 2012 – to 5.3 trillion soums. The volume of microloans jumped 1.5 times to 1.2 trillion soums.

The balance of population deposits rose 31.5% year-on-year in 2012 to 22.8 trillion soums as of 1 January 2013.
