Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, a meeting was held at the Agency for Strategic Reforms with representatives of the Consultative Group on Global Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

The meeting was attended by ASR Deputy Director Rustamkhon Azizov, CGIAR Executive Director and Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) Johan Swinnen, CGIAR senior researchers Suresh Babu and Kamiljon Akramov, as well as other Agency employees.

During the meeting, foreign experts got acquainted with the work of the Agency in the field of agriculture, as well as with the priorities defined in Presidential resolution No. PP-109 regarding the development of this industry in Uzbekistan. The parties also actively discussed current problems facing the agricultural cluster.

The Agency for Strategic Reforms expressed its readiness to consider recommendations developed by IFPRI as a result of studying the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan. This step emphasizes the importance of partnership and exchange of experience in finding effective solutions for the development of the country’s agriculture.

The possibility of IFPRI’s participation in thematic meetings organized within the framework of the activities of the “Country Platform of Uzbekistan” was also considered, which could help enrich the dialogue and search for innovative approaches to agricultural development. This move underscores the commitment to deep understanding the challenges facing the country’s agriculture and finding the best ways to address them, while actively engaging with global leaders in the field.
