Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to widely promote the tourism potential of Uzbekistan in the countries of East Asia, members of the delegation of the Tourism Committee, who are in Indonesia, met today with the leadership of the Indonesian Muslim Board (Majelis Ulama Indonesia).
At the meeting, issues of further strengthening the promotion of "Halal tourism" between the countries, creating all the necessary conditions for Muslim tourists were discussed.
During the bilateral dialogue, the officials discussed a number of issues on increasing the number of Muslim tourists traveling from Indonesia to Uzbekistan, developing affordable tour packages and providing quality services.
“We have information about the ancient history of Uzbekistan and tourism opportunities. The opportunity to get acquainted with the work done by Uzbek scientists-encyclopedists for the propaganda of Islam, and their scientific heritage pleases Indonesian Muslims. In particular, more than 5 million inhabitants of the island of Sumatra are adherents of the teachings of Naqshbandi. Therefore, there are a lot of people who want to visit Uzbekistan,” said Dr. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, head of the international relations department of the Indonesian Muslim Board.
During the dialogue, Indonesian officials were fully informed about the ongoing reforms to develop tourism in Bukhara.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached on organizing the demonstration of advertising videos about Bukhara on screens installed in the crowded avenues of mosques in Indonesia and their environs.
