ADB provides US$220m loan to Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 December 2012, the Board of directors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved allocation of loan for US$220 million to Uzbekistan, which will be used to construction of national highway.

The ADB loan will be allocated due to ordinary resources of the bank for 25 years, including five year grace period under standard preferential loan of the bank, based on LIBOR rate.

According to the ADB, the resources will be directed to reconstruction of Tashkent-Osh highway (A-373) with extension of 75 km. The investment will upgrade the existing two-lane section with asphalt pavement to a four-lane section with concrete-cement pavement with an international design.

This is the second tranche within Second Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Corridor 2 Road Investment Program with the cost of US$500 million. The ADB approved programme in September 2011.

Currently, Uzbekistan attracted US$1.1 billion within the ADB multitranche financing to construction of national highway. The resources were attracted to construction of roads Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beinau (A-380) and Tashkent-Andijan (A-373) with total extension of 450 km.
