Finance 31/07/2009 ADB Annual Meeting to be held in Tashkent on 3-4 May 2010

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Asian Development Bank (ADB) will hold its 43rd Annual Meeting in Tashkent, capital city of Uzbekistan, on 3-4 May 2010.

Uzbek President Islam Karimov approved with his resolution on 3 July 2009 an organization committee and working group on realization of measures on preparing and holding the ADB’s annual meeting.

The organization committee is led by the Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev and it included vice-presidents, heads of ministries and departmerns, governor of Tashkent and others. The agenda of the meeting was agreed with the ADB.

The committee will deal with logistic and transportation issues of participants, organization and equipment of plenary session and other meetings, country presentations, etc.

ADB Annual Meetings are statutory occasions for Governors of ADB members to provide guidance on ADB administrative, financial, and operational directions.

The meetings provide opportunities for member governments to interact with ADB staff, nongovernment organizations (NGOs), media, and representatives of observer countries, international organizations, academe and the private sector.

Annual meetings are held in a member country in late April or early May. The decision on holding the Annual Meeting in Tashkent was adopted at the 42nd Annual Meeting in Bali, Indonesia (May 2009).

Participants include finance and economic planning ministers, senior government officials, representatives of the multilateral development bank community, investment bankers, representatives of nongovernment organizations and members of the media.
