AFC Champions League’s all-time leading goalscorer Zaynitdin Tadjiyev is looking to foreign shores to ply his trade.
The 31-year-old Uzbek international is on trial with China Super League outfit Tianjin Teda and scored a goal during their training game on Monday.
“We could see his excellent scoring capabilities from his goal,” said a Tianjin player after Monday’s training. “We are quite impressed with him.”
Tadjiyev’s signing will benefit the club as it will fulfil AFC’s 3+1 policy before the China Super League’s transfer window closes on 25 July.
Tianjin, who are coached by Zuo Shusheng, are seventh in the CSL standings with 22 points after 15 rounds.
His 79th minute equaliser for Pakhtakor against Saudi Arabia’s Ettifaq in the AFC Champions League Round of 16 was the Uzbek’s fifth goal this season and took his overall tally to 13 goals in the premier club competition.
He scored four goals in the 2002 edition before adding two each in 2006 and 2008.
Tadjiyev has scored six goals so far for Pakhtakor in the Uzbekistan League this season as the former champions trail fellow ACL quarter-finalists Bunyodkor by nine points after 15 rounds.
