Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection Committee has suspended the accreditation of the Agro Kimyo Standart center, which was responsible for certifying dietary supplements (DS).
The decision was made after a series of inspections conducted in response to complaints regarding the advertising of dietary supplements.
The inspection revealed that some of the supplements, in terms of composition and properties, resembled pharmaceutical drugs, despite the fact that they are legally not permitted to be used as such.
One example of such a violation was the case of Bio Max Pharm, which obtained permission to produce the "Bio Smecta" product as a dietary supplement, even though the packaging and composition of the product closely resembled a medicinal product.
Since the beginning of 2024, permits for the release of several dietary supplements resembling pharmaceuticals have been revoked, according to Jurabek Laboratories. Among these products were ORS, Orsi Max, Kifti, "Orsasol," and Fita Orsa.
The Competition Committee, in cooperation with the Accreditation Center, conducted an inspection of the Uni-Chem-Test laboratory, owned by Agro Kimyo Standart, which conducts research on dietary supplements. During the inspection, it was found that the laboratory issued a certificate of compliance with technical requirements, despite violations.
It is known that the Accreditation Center suspended the accreditation certificate of Agro Kimyo Standart in October, following the identification of violations of accreditation requirements. Over the course of ten months, the Competition Committee reviewed more than 2,200 advertisements for dietary supplements and food additives, resulting in the correction of 328 violations and several cases where supervisory measures were taken.
