Accountants, Auditors mark their professional day in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A roundtable meeting dedicated to the Day of Accountants and Auditors was held in Tashkent on 9 December 2010, Uzbekistan Auditors Chamber said.

The Uzbekistan Auditors Chamber and the National Accountants and Auditors Association organized the event at the support of Audit-rating LLC, a rating agency.

Representatives of Finance Ministry, State Tax Committee, Banking-Finance Academy, audit organizations, certified auditors and chief accountants of enterprises participated at the roundtable.

Officials of Finance Minister and representatives of private companies presented reports on developing and improving accounting and audit, as well as rating assessment of audit organizations.

Participants discussed a draft regulation on Council of auditors of Uzbekistan. This Council is result of close cooperation between Uzbekistan Auditors Chamber and the National Accountants and Auditors Association. The council is directed at adapting many sides of activity of both organizations.

Ravshan Haydarov, chairman of Auditors Chamber, and chairperson of National Accountants and Auditors Association Tulyahodjaeva answered to questions of participants on tasks of the Council.

Participants shared their views on national accounting and audit, as well as further developing these sectors in Uzbekistan.

Day of Accountant and Auditors is marked on 9 December as it was proposed at the conference "Ways of improving accounting and auditing in Uzbekistan on conditions of the consequences of world financial economic crisis" in September 2009.

International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) recommended its members to celebrate their professional day between 1 and 10 December at their own choice. Taking into account this, Auditors Chamber and National Association of Accountants and Auditors decided to celebrate the professional day on 9 December.

Currently, Auditors Chamber unites 70 audit companies and over 350 certified auditors. The chamber has its branches in Karakalpakstan, Andijan, Ferghana, Namangan, Syrdarya, Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions.

National Accountants and Auditors Association unites 1,384 accountants, auditors and tax specialists with CAP/CIPA certificates, as well as 72 audit organizations.

According to Auditors Chamber, the volume of auditing services made up 16.9 billion soums in the first half 2010. The volume of rendered services exceeded 28% year-on-year.

Auditing inspections prevailed in the structure of auditing services with the volume of 9.4 billion soums in six months of 2010. The growth rate made up 17.7% year-on-year.

The volume of services in initiated audits grew by 26.7% year-on-year in the first half of 2010 to 2.9 billion soums.

In the first half 2010, audit organizations rendered services to 718 economic entities for 4.7 billion soums, which is up by 58.3%.
