About 6,000 foreign tourists to visit Aral Sea Basin in 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
It is expected that over 6,000 foreign tourists will visit Aral Sea Basin in 2012, UzA reported quoting head of the Bureau of tourism and excursions of Karakalpakstan Abdugofur Smaylov.
He said that 2,438 foreign tourists visited Aral Sea Basin in 2009, 2,500 in 2010 and 4,400 in 2011.
Currently, Karakalpakstan offers seven routes to foreign tourists – Echo of past in desert, Travel to Aral Sea, Wish Well, Silk Fabric’s Wonder, and Ancient Fortress of Karakalpakstan.
Within the historic-cultural tourism, ecotourism and Travel projects, the tourists visit state reserve Quyi Amudarya, pastures of saiga in Ustyurt, Sudochye lake, etc.
In order to increase number of tourists’ inflow, several new projects are implemented in the region. In particular, it is planned to organize fishing and hunting in rivers and lakes, visits to ancient monuments in the region.
