About 2.8m people use Internet in Uzbekistan

Estimated number of Internet users in Uzbekistan increased to 2.8 million users or 100 users per 1,000 persons in the end of the first quarter of 2010, the Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information (UzACI) said.
In the first quarter, ICT sector rendered services for 442 billion soums, including 265 billion soums to population. The growth rate made up 7.5% year-on-year.
The sector used investments and credits for US$37.5 million or 59 billion soums in the first quarter of 2010 within investment programme for 2010. The enterprises directed 7.33 billion soums of own resources.
The digitalization level in Uzbekistan made up 92.7%. Number of enterprises rendering Internet services, reached 977 and number of collective Internet access points – 1,023.
Total access speed to international information networks made up 1,270 Mbit per second.
