Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 February 2022, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament David McAllister.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU were discussed, special attention was paid to the issues of intensifying the inter-parliamentary dialogue.

The parties noted with satisfaction the fruitful results of today’s consultative meeting in Tashkent of special envoys and representatives of the EU and Central Asian countries on Afghanistan, as well as the 15th meeting of the Uzbekistan-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, held in Brussels on 31 January 2022.

The need to strengthen interregional cooperation, expand trade, economic and investment ties, attract leading EU companies to Uzbekistan was noted.

An exchange of views took place on the schedule of upcoming events at various levels and formats.

Interest was expressed in the implementation, together with the EU and its member states, of socially oriented projects in the ecologically vulnerable region of the Aral Sea region.

The talks also considered issues of the regional and international agenda.
