Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan national team defender Abdukodir Khusanov has been nominated for the title of Player of the Month for February 2025 at Manchester City, according to Etihad.

For the 20-year-old footballer, this is his first nomination for the prestigious award, which is also contested by Norwegian striker Erling Haaland and Croatian defender Joško Gvardiol.

The winner will be determined through a fan vote.

The official Manchester City website highlighted Khusanov’s rapid progress, emphasizing that his debut month with the team showed his potential to become a fan favorite.

After an understandably nervous debut match against Chelsea, the young Uzbek defender quickly settled into the team’s playing rhythm.

In his second match for the club, Khusanov scored a goal, converting a rebound after a shot from Rico Lewis in an FA Cup match against Leyton Orient.

He then delivered an outstanding performance against Newcastle, where he successfully shut down Alexander Isak and neutralized Anthony Gordon, helping City secure a dominant 4-0 victory.

His bright defensive play, speed, and persistence allowed Khusanov to firmly establish himself as a future team leader.

In the Champions League match against Real Madrid, he played as a right-back, facing off against Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé. Despite the 1-3 defeat, the young Uzbek footballer showed resilience in challenging conditions.

The match against Liverpool also posed a significant challenge — his battle against Mohamed Salah ended in a 0-2 loss, but Khusanov once again appeared confident and reliable.
