Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An opening of a trading house of Uzbekistan took place in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipeda, Dunyo news agency reports.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of Lithuanian ministries, departments and organizations, as well as business and public circles.

The welcoming speeches emphasized the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, their results, as well as the economic, investment and export potential of the country. Particular attention was paid to the prospects of the new trading house in Lithuania.

Chairman of the Lithuanian Seimas Committee on Economic Affairs Kazys Starkevicius noted that Lithuania considers Uzbekistan as one of the key countries in the region and is interested in the further development of trade and economic relations. He expressed confidence that the opening of the trading house will help increase Uzbekistan’s trade volumes not only with Lithuania, but also with other European countries.

Co-chairman of the Uzbek-Lithuanian Business Council Albertas Sitavičius emphasized that the opening of a trading house of Uzbekistan in the largest port city of the Baltic states will significantly expand the geography of exports of Uzbek products. Lithuanian logistics companies are showing high interest in cooperation with the new shopping complex.

Participants of the event agreed that the trading house of Uzbekistan will help establish mutually beneficial relations with large Lithuanian manufacturing and industrial enterprises, increase the export of national products and attract investors to Uzbekistan.

During the event, export contracts worth 10.1 million US dollars were signed.

The founders of the trading house were the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Lithuanian company “Uzterminal”, located in the Klaipeda State Port on the territory of the largest Lithuanian logistics and stevedoring company “VEGA”. The Port of Klaipeda ships cargo worldwide by sea and land, with an annual throughput capacity of 70 million tons of cargo.

This is already the second trading house of Uzbekistan in Lithuania. The first one was opened in Vilnius in June 2023.
