A technical center of the global innovation platform "Plug and Play" to be opened in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Plug and Play platform announced the opening of its office in Tashkent by the end of this year. After meeting with the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, IT Park Uzbekistan and Aloqa Ventures, Plug and Play officially decided to launch a new location in the capital of Uzbekistan.

The initial stage of cooperation within the framework of the program includes the following areas: financial technologies, insurance and corporate technologies, as well as education.

Said Amidi, Founder and CEO of Plug and Play Tech Center: “As one of the youngest and fastest growing ecosystems in the region, Plug and Play is committed to helping the local Uzbek corporate ecosystem achieve the highest international standards in information technology and innovation. At the same time, the program will support local talent and entrepreneurs in their growth and innovation strategies by providing venues in key strategic markets around the world.”

The new location will help create more opportunities for local corporations and agencies to interact closely with startups, moreover, accelerate the development of the startup ecosystem in the region. The partnership with Plug and Play will also help startups expand internationally as they can access a global network of over 40 locations around the world.

Farhod Ibragimov, Director of IT Park Uzbekistan: “The creation of the Plug and Play technical center is a big event for the startup ecosystem of Uzbekistan. Our local startups will have the opportunity to showcase their projects in 35 countries around the world where Plug and Play has a presence. Moreover, it will allow startups from Uzbekistan to improve their quality and competitiveness in the international market, and bring us closer to creating the first “unicorn” from our country. It also opens up new opportunities for our ecosystem partners (venture funds, business angels) who will be able to scale their activities.”

On 2 May 2022, IT Park Director Farhod Ibragimov visited one of the Plug and Play offices in Stuttgart, Germany, where he met with Sina Amidi - Co-Head of Plug and Play EMEA, Sasha Karimpur - Managing Director of Plug and Play in Germany and Felix Lammers, Plug and Play Corporate Partnership Manager in Stuttgart. During the meeting, the parties discussed the opening of a new platform. The plans were soon approved and finalized, and now the Plug and Play company officially opens its representative office in Tashkent.

"Plug and Play" seeks cooperation with promising corporations, government agencies, universities, as well as venture capital funds and start-ups. The opening of the office of this platform is an important milestone in the innovation strategy of Uzbekistan, pursued by the Government of our country, and an excellent addition to the global Plug and Play network.
