Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 3 to 8 October, the World Summit (International Final) of the Technovation Girls 2023 program was held in Silicon Valley (USA). Uzbekistan was represented by the Tecnas team, consisting of 5 participants and a mentor. The senior team from Uzbekistan (this category includes girls 16-18 years old) made it to the finals of the international competition for the first time, becoming one of the 12 best finalist teams out of more than 2,500 teams from around the world.

On 5 October, having presented the project to an expert jury of representatives of well-known IT companies, our team won the Social Impact Award (this is an award for the best Technovation project that contributes to solving social problems).

Technovation Girls Uzbekistan, the largest STEM program for girls in Uzbekistan, is organized in the 2023 season by the NGO Tech4Impact in partnership with the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the online service Yandex Go. This year, a record number of participants registered in the program - more than 1,200 schoolgirls from all over the country. The competition has been held in Uzbekistan since 2016.

The Tecnas team has developed the Sinov mobile application: this is a VR laboratory that solves the problem of the lack of scientific equipment and laboratories in schools in Uzbekistan. 

“Participating in the Technovation Girls International Finals is a reflection of our tenacity, creativity and passion for technology. We are proud to represent our project and the community of girls in Uzbekistan at such an outstanding event. This victory was an inspiration for us and will show other girls in our country that they can achieve any goal,” note the Tecnas team members.

The victory of our team in the international STEM competition proves that girls in Uzbekistan are excellent at identifying important social problems, proposing solutions to these problems using technology, creating interesting IT projects, and setting ambitious goals for themselves.

Registration for the new season of Technovation Girls Uzbekistan will open in December 2023.

Technovation Girls is an international technology competition for girls, which is held annually in 160 countries around the world. The goal of the competition is to instill “soft” skills in the participants, to interest girls in IT technologies, business and entrepreneurship in the IT field.

The 12-week program includes training modules on programming, marketing, business skills and presentation skills.

Trainings and seminars were held in Tashkent, Nukus, Fergana and online. The girls learned to solve socially significant problems using technology and created innovative mobile applications in areas related to the Sustainable Development Goals.
