According to the law enforcement bodies of Russia, the blast killed at least 13 people and injured several more.
ITAR-TASS reported quoting the Information Center of National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC), the female suicide bomber detonated her explosives.
The NAC said that the blast at the Volgograd railway station occurred at 12:45 on 29 December 2013. The female suicide bomber detonated unknown explosives, which resulted in human victims.
According to preliminary information, the explosive detonated in front of a metal detector just inside the main entrance of the train station. Currently, the law enforcement bodies are searching for bombs in the station, Interfax said.
Federal Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on terrorism and illegal turnover of explosives.
