A round table was held in the capital on the topic: "Central Asia: global trends and the regional agenda"

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 11 July, the International Institute of Central Asia hosted an international "round table" on the topic: "Central Asia: global trends and the regional agenda."

The event was held at the initiative of international experts who arrived in Uzbekistan to participate as observers in the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The platform for discussion was provided by the International Institute of Central Asia.

More than 30 leading national and international experts from public and political circles, think tanks and research institutes, including the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Center for Euro-Asian Studies (Russia), the Institute social political research "Elchi" (Kyrgyzstan), the Center for Geopolitical Research of the Russian-Tajik (Slavonic) University (Tajikistan), the Public Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, and others attended the event

The Uzbek side was attended by leading experts in the field of regional studies of the International Institute of Central Asia, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies, the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.

During the event, experts discussed the prospects for the development of regional cooperation in the context of the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, their impact on regional processes and interaction in solving problems on the global agenda.

Particular attention was paid to the foreign policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which retains its priorities, and is focused on continuing the course of further rapprochement of the countries of Central Asia.

It was noted that the re-election of Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev as the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan ensures the preservation of the sustainable interest of the world community in our country. First of all, this is due to the completion of the process of political transformation in the key country of the Central Asian region, which creates the basis for the long-term development of regional cooperation and the solution of key issues of socio-economic development.

As experts noted, Uzbekistan is a center of stability and a factor in the sustainable development of the entire region, stimulating the strengthening of good neighborly relations and the development of mutually beneficial relations with neighboring countries on a constructive basis.

In particular, it was emphasized that the results of the elections open up a "new era of regional cooperation", allowing the countries of Central Asia to build new long-term plans of a strategic nature to further strengthen multilateral cooperation.

The participants of the "round table" were unanimous in their opinion that the collective efforts of the countries of the region became possible thanks to the new foreign policy of Uzbekistan, which opened the way to progress, prosperity and improvement in the life of the peoples of Central Asia.

At the same time, the experts pointed out the importance of continuing the course of further expanding cooperation in trade, industry, energy, transport, innovative development of agriculture, as well as considering the possibility of institutionalizing relations in these areas, which will strengthen multilateral ties and contribute to the formation of conditions for sustainable development .

In general, representatives of expert and analytical circles agreed that Central Asia, thanks to the successful diversification of the foreign policy of Uzbekistan, as well as the efforts of all neighboring countries in the region, has confidently left the position of a strategic periphery and has become a center of attraction for global and non-regional partners.
