A round table on the theme “Independence and Political Parties in Uzbekistan” takes place in Washington

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A "round table" on the theme "Independence and Political Parties in Uzbekistan" was held at the Institute named after J. Kennan of the Woodrow Wilson International Science Center (Washington).

The main report was made by the head of the Center for Central Asian Studies at the Harry Truman Institute Zeev Levin. The event was attended by representatives of government bodies, the expert community and business circles of the United States.

The speaker dwelt in detail on the policy of liberalization, transparency and sustainability of the Parliamentary Institute in Uzbekistan, led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The speaker and experts drew particular attention to the unprecedented level of openness and the growing role of the media in the electoral process, as well as to the relatively young generation of candidates.

In his speech, Zeev Levin emphasized that today Uzbekistan is becoming the center of political transformations not only in the region. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the surprise of many external observers, began to carry out unprecedented in the past both internal and external reforms. The range of internal reforms is very wide, covering all spheres of the republic’s life.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the USA, many of those present in the hall welcomed the positive trends in the development of modern parliamentarism in Uzbekistan. As noted, holding open debates between party leaders, listening to reports of state bodies in the country's parliament, critical discussion of such important issues as the budget of the republic, sending parliamentary requests contribute to the formation of the legislative power as a real pillar in building a democratic state.

As noted at the round table, the upcoming elections are a unique event, attracting great interest from the international community to the events in the country. This process takes place against the background of the increasing role of the media in society, ensuring transparency of all processes of the election campaign, strengthening the civic position in determining the main priorities of the country's further development.
