Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the state visit to the People’s Republic of China on 21 January in the city of Urumqi, during an introductory presentation of the “Cotton and Textile Trade Center of China” specially organized for the textile delegation of Uzbekistan, an agreement was reached to open a representative office of the association Uztekstilprom in China.

Both countries, being among the major cotton producing countries, have close cooperation in the textile sector. China is one of the largest importers and exporters of textiles to Uzbekistan. The main export item to China is cotton yarn, while China ships mainly artificial and synthetic fibers.

There are 26 enterprises in Uzbekistan with the participation of Chinese investments, including such large ones as: LT Textile International, Nanyang M&F, Bobur M&F, Shanghai Marjan, Chang Liang To’qimachi and others. There are 3 trading houses of Uzbek textile enterprises operating on the territory of the PRC.

Following the visit, Chinese entrepreneurs expressed great interest and readiness to implement the Road Map for 2024-2025, which envisages the expansion of cooperation in the field of education, including training of industry specialists, implementation of innovative projects in the textile field, and organization of a permanent exhibition of Uzbek products.

One of the important events was the agreement to open in March of this year. permanent representative office (with the provision of office space free of charge) of Uztekstilprom in the China Cotton and Textile Trade Center in Urumqi.

The Cotton and Textile Trade Center in Urumqi was created to conduct research from cotton planting to textile production, digitalize the industry, create a certification system for cotton and textile products, and ensure the unity of the entire industrial chain of the textile industry.
