Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Douglas Fry, a representative of the Export-Import Bank of the United States for loans and business development, will pay a working visit to Uzbekistan from 15 to 19 May, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

In the visit program, participation in the work of the first Uzbek-American-Canadian business forum in Navoi on 16-17 May.

Douglas Fry will hold talks with the leadership of the ministries of finance, agriculture, investment and foreign trade, the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan (NBU), Asaka Bank and Uzpromstroybank.

The parties will discuss prospects for expanding the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and the United States within the framework of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the NBU and Eximbank, signed on the margins of the official visit of our head of state to the United States in May 2018.

This memorandum envisages the allocation of loans of up to US$100 million to US companies operating in the market of Uzbekistan.

On 8 May 2019, the Senate of Congress approved the candidacies of three members of the Board of Directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States proposed by the White House administration. Thus, the quorum was absent since 2015 for making decisions on the allocation of large loans to US companies that participate in important infrastructures for projects abroad, including in Uzbekistan.
